Abstract
Influenza virus is one of the major pathogenic viruses for the respiratory diseases and many pandemic outbreaks have occurred. Influenza virus is a single-stranded RNA virus and its subtype is determined by its HA (hemagglutinin) and NA (neuraminidase) proteins. Antigenic shifts from the combination of HA and NA is one of the reasons for the pandemic outbreaks. Influenza virus, which brought Spanish flu, Asian flu, Hong Kong flu, and 2009 novel flu pandemic outbreak, has received strong concerns from diverse fields. Prediction of outbreaks and establishing treatment methods based on the simulation studies is of concern considering the of outbreaks and establishing treatment methods based on the simulation studies is of concern considering the damages of flu pandemics. Studies of infection mechanisms and immunity through molecular dynamics, antigenic shift predictions based on sequence information, public health related anticipations from epidemiological studies were previously performed. In this review, we summarized diverse prediction studies for influenza virus based on simulation methods.
